Stateline Woodturners
October, 2008 Meeting
Hi Everyone,
The October meeting included elections of officers for 2009. The new officers are:
Kurt Bird President
Ron East Vice President
Harold Stoner Secretary/Treasurer
Thermon Crocker Program Chairman
Bob Schmitz Board Member
Roger Valek Board Member
Dave Strickland Board Member
Jim King Past President
The officers will begin their new terms effective immediately. Congratulations!
There will not be a normal club meeting in November. Instead, we will host Andi Wolfe November 15, 16, and 17. The
15th will be an all day demonstration, open to all club members at no cost. Non club members are welcome as well,
for $30. The 16th and 17th will be hands on classes for a maximum of six students, at a cost of $140 each day. These
workshops are filling quickly, so you must notify Kurt Bird, Harold Stoner, or Thermon Crocker if you wish to be
included. Andi is a well known, and well respected national turner, and we expect the demonstration and classes to
be excellent.
November 11th is the date for the Empty Bowls soup dinner and auction. If you wish to donate a bowl for the auction,
it must be given to Kurt Bird no later than November 7th to be included. Contact Kurt for details.
Our Christmas party this year will be held at Harold Stoner’s home in Larue , AR on Saturday, December 6th. There
will be a nominal cost to cover the food and beverages. More information will be on a handout at Andi’s demo in
November. There will also be a turned gift exchange for anyone wishing to participate.
4th Saturday is this weekend at Mark Ost’s. Leo has a supply of walnut turning blanks available for sale, and he will
bring them Saturday. Please remember that Mark has some of Ray Tiller’s tools available for sale to help the club,
including a compressor, a drill press, and a bandsaw. Anyone who has a bowl to donate for the Empty Bowls auction
can give them to me at Mark’s.
