Stateline Woodturners
September, 2009 Meeting
The September meeting had a full house of folks, including John Nelson from Missouri, and Spider Reed,
who moved away a couple of years ago and is now back in town and turning again. Welcome to both!
This will serve as a reminder that our upcoming election for officers is in November, and anyone wishing to
run for any of the positions is welcome to put their name in the ring. Present incumbents and nominees
include:
Kurt Bird - President/Nominee
Ron East - Vice President
Frank Gorishek - Secy/Treas. Nominee
Almeta Robertson - Program Director Nominee
Jim King - Past President
Dave Strickland - At Large Director
Kip Powers - ALD Nominee
Doug Hyde - ALD Nominee
Mark Ost - ALD Nominee
Roger Valek and Bob Schmitz are At Large Directors whose two year terms are ending.
Alan Lacer is scheduled for November with a Saturday demo, and Sunday and Monday classes for anyone
interested. Please contact Thermon Crocker and Mark Ost to follow up on this opportunity.
Doug Hyde was the Advanced Turner of the Month; Awilda Wilson won the Novice Turner of the Month. Well
done, both of you!
We had a very good bring back auction with lots of items, and Guy Braughler made a custom handle which
was in our $5 auction. Thanks to everyone who participated! Kip Powers demonstrated some stocking
stuffers, doing an outstanding job, as usual! Lots of good ideas.
Doug Hyde will be our demonstrator next month. We'll see you all at Fourth Saturday or next month.
