Stateline Woodturners
March, 2009 4th Saturday
Meeting
Actually, our March "4th Saturday" meeting was held on April 7, due to
inclement weather on March 28th!

We had a great crowd, the largest yet!

David Strickland demonstrated deep hollowing, Mark Ost demonstrated
(and provided hands on instruction) in cutting threads, Doug Hyde
demonstrated some spindle turning, Tom Gilge demonstrated pen and
magnifying glass handle turning and Jim King provided tool sharpening
services.

All-in-all, it was an interesting and busy session!

These 4th Saturday sessions are proving to be more and more popular,
not only for current club members, but especially for guests and
prospective new members! Again, our thanks to Mark Ost and Doug Hyde
for their boundless efforts in making this a successful and enjoyable club
activity.

Also, thanks again to Leo Hapeman and Jerry Crowe for contributing wood
to the club! (And to Mark and Dee for picking up the wood from Jerry's)
Tom Gilge demonstrates some
of the finer points in pen making.
Bob's stoking up on calories
while watching Tom at work.
Everyone's milling around prior
to the start of the main activities!
Doug's at work on the big lathe.
Jim's assessing the edge of a
tool prior to sharpening.
David Strickland discusses the
need for a steady-rest for deep
hollowing.
