March, 2010 Meeting
Our March meeting was very well attended, as usual.
Our treasury has a balance in excess of $5000! This is quite an accomplishment, considering that we are
now sponsoring two nationally known turners/demonstrators per year!
The membership approved the Board of Directors' recommendation to pursue obtaining 501(c)3 (IRS
non-profit designation) status. This would allow us to solicit tax-deductible grants/donations from
businesses/corporations.
Kurt also encouraged the membership to become more involved in local charitable activities, and to provide
him, or any Board Member, with the name and contact information for any local charitable organization that
we might be interested in working with in some manner.
Our demonstrator for this meeting was Almeta Robertson. She demonstrated turning a biscuit cutter. This
was a "mystery" turning with members challenged to guess the object while it took shape!
