Stateline Woodturners
January, 2011 Meeting
We had very good attendance at our first meeting of 2011. We are going to need to move the tables
and plan on bringing in more folding chairs to accommodate our growing membership. We will have
discussions with the staff at the Jones center regarding a larger meeting room, but a storage area for
our equipment, in close proximity to the meeting room, is problematic.

The membership voted on the Cunningham Award (Turner of the Year) recipient for 2010. The award
goes to Mick Hutchison. Congratulations. Mick!

The Chris Ost award was announced, by our President Ron East, and goes to Maggie Gorishek. The
recipient of this annual award is selected by the club President and presented to the member who has
provided the most support to the club for the past year. Congratulations, Maggie!

Doug Hyde has assumed the role of coordinator for collecting tops to be donated to various
organizations. He asks that each member turn two tops per month for this project. Let's all support
Doug in this endeavor.

The club will donate $750.00 to the Jones center in appreciation of their support for our club's activities.

We have submitted a request to the AAW for a grant in the amount of $1125.00 to upgrade our
audio/video equipment.

Harold Stoner has asked for help in turning boxes for medals for the Forgotten Heroes Campaign.
Please contact Harold for the size guidelines.

The advanced turner award for January is Russ Merkel.
The novice turner award winner is Ron Anastasi.

Mark Ost was our demonstrator, and demonstrated turning a threaded, lidded box with embellishments.

See you at 4th Saturday!
